Pursuit ends with deployment of spike strips, two suspects arrested, one unidentified

PLAQUEMINE, La. (BRPROUD) – The Iberville Parish Sheriff’s Office recently released information about a traffic stop that ended with the arrest of two men.

28-year-old Christopher Butler and 27-year-old Calvin Young, Jr. did not stop when asked to by deputies and a pursuit ensued one day before Independence Day.

The pursuit took place in Plaquemine and spike strips were used to bring the suspects’ vehicle to a stop.

Butler and Young Jr. were quickly taken into custody. The third suspect has not been identified yet.

Butler is facing these charges:

  • No tail lights
  • Aggravated flight from an officer
  • Aggravated assault
  • Resisting an officer
  • Possession of a firearm by a convicted felon
  • Illegal possession of a stolen firearm
  • Simple escape

Young “was issued a misdemeanor summons for resisting an officer,” according to the Iberville Parish Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies found 4 firearms during a search of the suspects’ vehicle.

The investigation remains ongoing and more charges are possible in this case.
