BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) – Grammy award-winning rapper Tip “T.I.” Harris is set to deliver the keynote address at Southern University Law Center’s virtual Sports and Entertainment Symposium on Saturday, Sept. 19.
A Southern University Law Center press release explains why the successful artist is a good fit for the symposium.
“Beyond the screen and recording booth, Harris served on the Mayor of Atlanta’s Transition Team, where he focused on policy and legislation; and currently serves on the Reimagining Atlanta Task Force, aimed at creating restorative practices and a community-driven approach to addressing incarceration,” the release reads. “He has been recognized most recently as a thought leader at the United States Capitol and during the Operation Hope and Forbes Magazine business conferences. His community focus is around driving economic mobility and equity in vulnerable, underserved communities.”
Harris also received the first “Voice of Culture” award from the American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers.
The two-day symposium will have another keynote speaker on the first day, Friday, Sept. 18. Attorney Donald Woodard, who serves as USA Track and Field’s deputy general counsel and chief of business affairs, will be day one’s keynote speaker.
Panelists are DVerse Media CEO Benny Pough, Epic Records Senior National Director of Promotion Butch Hartfield, NASCAR Media Ventures Assistant Media Counsel Jourdan Williams, NBCUniversal Media Vice President of Business Affairs Jennifer Duval and more.
Attendees can participate in panels such as “Music Industry 101,” “Brand Protection” and “Sports, Entertainment, and Intellectual Property,” according to the press release.
