COVINGTON, La. (BRPROUD) – A convicted felon who wore pink multi-colored slippers to an armed robbery at a gas station in Louisiana is now going to spend the rest of his life behind bars.
Joseph P. Grant, 59, of, Slidell, was convicted of First Degree Robbery in January.
That conviction stems from an armed robbery that took place in 2019 at a gas station in Louisiana.
Video surveillance footage from that incident showed Grant striking a female store clerk “multiple times all while threatening to kill her,” according to the 22nd JDC District Attorney Warren Montgomery’s Office.
Grant is considered a habitual offender by the 22nd JDC District Attorney Warren Montgomery’s Office.
In total, Grant has been convicted six different times and the latest conviction brought a 40-year prison sentence.
The amount of time behind bars for Grant changed after a recent Multiple Offender Arraignment.
That arraignment happened on Tuesday, May 10.
After Grant “admitted to the Multiple Offender Bill of Information, the Court found that Life provisions applied, vacated the 40-year sentence and sentenced the defendant to Life in Prison,” according to the 22nd JDC District Attorney Warren Montgomery’s Office.
Joseph Grant is currently behind bars in the St. Tammany Parish Jail.
