BRPD held memorial service for LT Godawa

BATON ROUGE, La (BRPROUD)- Baton Rouge Police Department held a memorial procession for Lt. Mike Godawa on Saturday, Aug. 14. It left the Resthaven Funeral Home and traveled northbound on Airline Hwy. It ended at BRPD Headquarters.

Lt Godawa worked with the Baton Rouge Police Department for 27 years, he retired at the end of July from the police force.

Chief Murphy Paul stated, “In wake of this tragic loss, I want to remind all of the seriousness of COVID-19. With recent increases of cases throughout the nation and mandates put back in place for precautionary measures. I encourage all, regardless of their vaccination status, to continue to wear face coverings, take necessary hygiene measures and to practice social distancing on a consistent basis.”

Some of the jobs that Lieutenant Godawa served in while working at BRPD include:

  • Shift lieutenant in the Uniform Patrol Division
  • BRPD Firearms Instructor

Members of the Baton Rouge Police Department would like to extend their “deepest sympathy to Lt. Godawa’s family, friends and all those touched by his life and service.”
