Registration now open for virtual summer camps with Theatre Baton Rouge

For Campers entering grades 6 – 12 this fall.
Class size is limited to 20 campers.
Session runs July 13 – 24, 2020.
Description: This two week session will present a GODSPELL review. Campers will participate in all phases of the production, including auditions, rehearsals, set design, costumes, and tech. whether you are a triple threat or a beginner, this camp is for you.
How it works: Campers will meet from 9:30 – 3:30 daily, with extended breaks throughout. Each day will consist of 30 minutes of warm-ups as a group, then break-out sessions for 30-45 minutes for music, dance and scene work.
The cost of this session is $175 per student.
For Campers entering grades 1 – 5 this fall.
Class size is limited to 15 campers.
Session runs July 6-17, 2020.
Description: Play Production Camp is a two-week virtual camp. Though the main focus will be performance, campers will also explore the various aspects of theatrical production (lighting, sound, scenic design, etc.) Campers will create a virtual cabaret performance to be performed at the end of the first week of camp and a virtual play to be performed at the end of the second week of camp.
How it works: In addition to preparing for these performances, campers will participate in collaborative group activities, improve physical and vocal performance skills, and hear from guest artists who work professionally in theatre. Campers will meet on MWF 9:30am- 11:00am; 1:30pm-3:00p and TTh 9:30am-11:00am; 12:00-3:00pm.
The cost of this session is $175 per student.
For Campers entering grades 1 – 5 this fall.
Class size is limited to 15 campers.
Session runs July 20 – 31, 2020. Class will meet M-F, 10 – 11:30 AM as a group, with private sessions in the afternoon, to be scheduled based on student/instructor availablity.
Description: During this two week camp, participants will learn how to express themselves and tell their story through music. From singing to bucket drumming (and more!), campers will dig deep into the basics of music performance and literacy, and how music can be a tool for communication and storytelling. Students will create their own solo performance based on the content of the class, allowing them to experience performing, composing, AND playwriting!
How it works: Campers 5-8 years old will do a 45 minute-1 hour zoom session daily, and campers 9-12 will do a 1.5-2 hour zoom session daily. If circumstances permit, this will be complemented by an in-person private session for each student. In addition to the 1-2 hour live, online session, students will be given a short (30 minute) assignment to practice/complete on their own outside of class.
The cost of this session is $175 per student.
Mini Movers Musical Theatre Dance with Hope Vaughan Carline
For Campers ages 5 – 10 years old.
Class size is limited to 15 campers.
Session runs June 15 – 25, 2020 and will meet for 45 minutes at 10AM.
Description: Each day with have a different theme, and campers are encouraged to dress up! Days will begin with a warmup, learning to tell a story through dance movement, and play games.
How it works: Short, concentrated sessions are built to keep campers moving through the morning. The only outside work would be choosing the next day’s themed outfit. This session is great for little ones with a budding interest in dance, and students who want an extra activity outlet during the day.
The cost for this session is $75 per camper.
Intro to Scenic Building with Kenneth Mayfield
For Campers 6th and up.
Class size is limited to 10 campers.
Session runs June 15 – 19, 2020. Meeting M-F, from 10:30 AM – 12 PM.
Description: This session is an intro and overview of the build process, including sessions on: safety, problem solving, research, and planning. Each day will cover a new topic to allow students to begin their own projects, with a final presentation of projects on the final day.
How it works: Sessions will meet for 1.5 hours, with very little outside work. This session has the flexibility to be whatever the students wants it to be. Come to the first day with a project in mind, or work with Kenneth to research and a new project.
The cost for this session is $75. Students will be expected to provide their own supplies.
NOT JUST FOR KIDS with Jack Lampert
For students over the age of 18.
Class size is limited to 10 campers.
Each session is one week – can sign up for both or either. Sessions meet in the evenings, from 6 – 9 PM.Drama Session – August 17 – 21Comedy Session – August 24 – 28
Description: This is a two week session that will allow campers to learn more about acting and the production process. Campers will learn new skills and improve existing ones, including vocal support, articulation, movement, improvisation, audition skills and characterizations. Campers will learn physical and vocal warmups, play games and participate in acting exercises. They will audition and rehearse for a final performance be held at the conclusion of the second week.
Our goal is to have the Not Just for Kids sessions meet in person, dependent on what state and local health guidelines tell us in August.
The cost of this session is $175 per student.
