BATON ROUGE, La. (LOCAL 33) (FOX 44) — New Orleans Saints quarterback Drew Brees is set to play for the first time in more than a month Sunday, ESPN reported Saturday.
Brees, who has missed the past five games with a thumb injury, says he is ready to play. The Saints will face the Arizona Cardinals on Sunday afternoon.
Quarterback Teddy Bridgewater has started in his place, leading the Saints to five consecutive wins.
Brees, 40, has played in the NFL since 2001. He joined the Saints in 2005, after four years with the former San Diego Chargers.
