United States Senator Bill Cassidy, R-La. is running to keep his Senate seat in 2020.
Cassidy said the formal announcement will not come until later this year.
Cassidy has served Louisiana in the Senate since 2014 when the now 61-year-old defeated Mary Landrieu in a runoff.
Cassidy has also served as a state senator and congressman.
According to fivethirtyeight.com, Senator Cassidy “voted with GOP President Donald Trump’s position 93.5 percent of the time.”
