Rescue Alliance’s pet food pantry in need of donations

BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) – Rescue Alliance, a nonprofit, no-kill animal rescue organization in Gonzales, is in need of donations for its pet food bank.

Companies like Tractor Supply have helped keep Rescue Alliance’s pet food bank stocked with dog food, and Greatergood.org and Alley Cat Allies gave the rescue a COVID-19 grant.

But Rescue Alliance is still asking for monetary donations as the need for the pet food bank continues.

“Right now, because the supply is still a little bit not as active as it has been, it’s still a good option to donate to us online,” a Rescue Alliance press release reads. “In part, that gets the food quicker, and it also helps us be able to pick exactly what we need. People can still donate at our donation drop off sites.”

The pet food bank has given out 25,000 pounds of pet food, and despite donations from local groups, it still needs help staying stocked with pet food, according to Jonathan Henriques of Rescue Alliance.

Donations of dry cat and dog food can be dropped off at the following locations:

  • Petstar Animal Care, located at 38432 W. Airline Drive in Prairieville
  • Agape Baptist Church of Denham Springs, located at 25353 S. Walker Road in Denham Springs
  • PetSmart Gonzales, located at 40451 Lowes Ave. in Gonzales

Those looking to help can help the food bank purchase pet food by donating to its Amazon charity list.
