JACKSON, La. (BRPROUD) – The East Feliciana Parish Sheriff’s Office executed a routine shakedown of East Feliciana High School at the end of last week.
The planned shakedown took place at East Feliciana High School at approximately 10 a.m. on Friday, November 5.
A search was conducted and “there was a very small amount of drugs found that was at a misdemeanor level,” according to the East Feliciana Parish Sheriff’s Office.
No one was arrested in this case.
EFPSO says, “The student was referred to Administrative School authorities.”
K9 dogs from the East Feliciana Parish Sheriff’s Office were used during this shakedown.
The East Feliciana Parish Sheriff’s Office has been asked to conduct these searches at the local high school.
East Feliciana Sheriff Jeff Travis said this about the routine search:
Considering all things that go on in today’s times, I think the outcome of the search was actually really good. It is important for there to be checks and balances in our schools for the safety of our students. These searches are just one way to help improve the safety for all. Our young people are our greatest asset and we must do all we can to keep their environment safe , especially at school , so they can focus on learning as opposed to things that are not conducive to learning. The partnership between the EFPSO and the East Feliciana Parish Schools is excellent as it should be.
