BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) – If you are on the LSU campus this afternoon and happen to hear gunshots, it is likely a preplanned event.

Active threat trainings are scheduled to take place near Peabody Hall on Thursday and Friday.

The LSU Police Department is providing details about what is taking place below:

LSU Community,

The LSU Police Department and LSU NCBRT are hosting two “Run. Hide. Fight.” active threat trainings tomorrow, Aug. 4, and Friday, Aug. 5. Blank rounds will be fired as a part of the trainings both afternoons. These sound like gunshots, but do not contain a bullet and will be fired only for training purposes.
You may hear multiple gunshot sounds in the vicinity of Peabody Hall in the afternoon tomorrow, Aug. 4, or Friday, Aug. 5. Thank you for your cooperation.

If you have any questions or concerns, give the LSU Police Department a call at (225) 578-3231.
