The Runnels School announced Friday that it will close its high school division after the completion of the 2019-2020 school year due to insufficient enrollment numbers for the upcoming school year.
The Baton Rouge school has enough students enrolled in its preschool through eighth grade divisions to continue operating, though, according to Runnels Director of Communications Allison Wren.
“Beginning in the 2020-2021 school year, Runnels School will continue as a vibrant preschool through eighth-grade school,” Runnels Headmaster and President L.K. Runnels said.
The decision to discontinue its high school program was made unanimously by the Runnels School Board of Trustees, Wren wrote.
