BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) – According to the Baton Rouge Police Department (BRPD), a 19-year-old man linked to a deadly Sunday, November 20 drive-by shooting has been arrested.

This marks the second arrest in connection with the incident, which occurred on South Choctaw Drive.

On Tuesday, November 29, BRPD identified 19-year-old Demonte Joseph as the suspect in custody, saying he was located in Garyville, Louisiana over Thanksgiving weekend (Saturday, November 26) and arrested on charges of first-degree murder, attempted first-degree murder, and illegal use of a weapon.

During the November 20 crime, 22-year-old Jessie Johnson was shot and killed and a second victim, an unidentified 25-year-old man, was injured by gunfire.

Police say Johnson and the victim were both in Johnson’s car when three suspects began shooting at them.

Police later arrested 18-year-old Jakai Johnson as a suspect. Johnson was booked into East Baton Rouge Prison on charges of first-degree murder, attempted first-degree murder, and illegal use of a weapon.

At this time, one suspect remains at large.
