PRAIRIEVILLE, La. (BRPROUD) – Multiple fire departments were called to a reported fire in the 17000 block of Wirth Place over the weekend.

The Galvez-Lake Volunteer Fire Department, 7th District Volunteer Fire Department, St. Amant Volunteer Fire Department and Geismar Volunteer Fire Department responded to a home on this street around 11:30 a.m. on Sunday, July 31.

“The fire was located in the attic of the home,” according to Galvez-Lake VFD.

Firefighters were able to extinguish the fire in around ten minutes.

In total, 32 volunteer firefighters assisted at the scene of the fire.

Firefighters were able to keep the fire from moving outside one section of the home.

Six occupants and a family dog were forced out of the home because of the fire.

Fire investigators were called out and they “suspect the tree to be what was struck by lightning first,” according to the Galvez-Lake Volunteer Fire Department.

The Red Cross was called to assist those who were displaced because of this fire.

There were no reported injuries related to this fire.
