Severe weather causes damage around the state

Monday, people in Louisiana dealt with severe weather from the northern part of the state, down.

Video recorded shows a tornado touching down near Alexandria.

The twister can be seen yards away from a home.

A brave couple stood on their porch, watching it move in front of their eyes.

Monday night, it was unclear if that exact tornado ripped through a school and caused buildings to collapse.

Large amounts of debris were scattered on the ground outside of a school where children were rescued from by first responders.

Monday’s storms caused downed power lines, toppled trees and even destroyed a gas station.

Throughout the day, parishes reported people being trapped in homes as winds blew parts of roofs away.

Several tornado warnings were issued and so far, one person was reportedly killed during the destruction.
