Sheriff’s Office searching for dogs attacking cows

Polk County Deputies are searching for a group of dogs that residents say have viciously attacked cattle.

Mike Marcewicz tells News Channel 8 his trail cameras captured the dogs on their property over the last several months.

He says the dogs have attacked a cow and calf.

The cow has neck injuries so severe; they had to put it down.

“She weighed about 300-400 pounds.

It was pretty much a gruesome sight,” said Mike Marcewicz

He says this started about three months ago and 6 of his cattle have been attacked.

Marcewicz is supposed to have show cattle arriving in a few weeks and he is afraid the dogs will come back.

“Those range anywhere from $2,500 or more. If one of those goes down not only is it a big price to pay but it will hurt one of the kids who is supposed to show the cattle this fall,” added Marcewicz.

Polk County Sheriff’s Office said deputies went door to door over the weekend looking for the owners.

They add that animal control is patrolling the area looking for the dogs as well.

If you see the dogs, you are asked to call Polk County Animal Control at 863-577-1762.
