Significant delays expected this weekend as well-known intersection closing for drainage repair

BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) – An important intersection in Baton Rouge is going to be closed for 36 hours.

From 6 a.m. on Saturday, October 2 until 6 p.m. on Sunday, October 3, cars will not be able to use the intersection at Airline Hwy. and Goodwood Blvd.

According to the Department of Transportation and Drainage, “The road is closed due to drainage repair.”

DOTD suggests drivers use these alternative routes:

  • EB: South on Airline Hwy – East on Old Hammond Hwy – North on Sharp Road
  • WB: South on Sharp Road – West on Old Hammond Hwy – North on Airline Hwy

Motorists should plan for “significant delays” as “the westbound approach will be closed on Saturday and the EB approach will be closed on Sunday.”
