Single-vehicle crash involving a concrete barrier takes the life of local woman


BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) – The Baton Rouge Police Department was called to the scene of a vehicle crash on Thursday morning.

The crash happened at approximately 3:10 a.m. on June 25 and 50-year-old Jan Gaines died after hitting a concrete barrier.

BRPD says, Gaines “struck a concrete barrier for a small bridge in the 1500 block of Oak Villa Blvd. while driving a 2011 Chevrolet Equinox.”

Gaines died at a hospital from the injuries she suffered in the single-vehicle crash, according to the Baton Rouge Police Department.
