ZACHARY, La. (BRPROUD) – A Solidarity March is scheduled for Friday night in the City of Zachary.
The march is set to begin at 6:30 p.m. and go from Zachary High School to Zachary City Hall and then back to Zachary High School.
Zachary Police Chief David McDavid provided this message to those who are planning to attend the Solidarity March:
I am proud to serve a community as compassionate as the City of Zachary. I understand the need to hold a Solidarity March and will do everything in my power to ensure the participants are safe while exercising their right to lawfully assemble. I not only have the expectation, but also the confidence that all participants will remain peaceful during this demonstration. Violence and destruction of property will not be tolerated. Your cries will be heard – ZPD will support you.
The organizers of the Solidarity March planned for this evening include a former educator of the Zachary Community School District and a former student of the Zachary Community School District. We have worked alongside these women to create a plan which we believe will facilitate a safe and peaceful event for all involved.
Participants will be led on a march from Zachary High School to Zachary City Hall and then back to Zachary High School. The March will begin at 6:30 PM. Parking will be in the west student parking lot near the football stadium.
