BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) – “15K in a Day” was a fundraiser hosted by the Tri Delta Sorority at LSU.
The one-day fundraiser was for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
With the help of more than 1,500 donors, the Tri Delta chapter at LSU raised more than nine times their original goal.
The 24-hour fundraiser brought in $137,461 for the hospital that treats childhood cancers and pediatric diseases.
“I am so incredibly humbled and proud to be part of an organization that works passionately for an amazing cause,” said Madelyn Friedlander, the chapter’s director of philanthropy. “Our philanthropy team spent months preparing for this fundraiser. When I saw we raised $137,461 for St. Jude, I was speechless.”
Twenty-two years ago, Tri Delta’s national organization started raising money for the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
Since then, the national organization has brought in over $74 million for the hospital.
“We are committed to defeating childhood cancer through our national partnership with St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital,” said Elizabeth Bueche, the chapter president. “Our members worked extremely hard to coordinate this event. We are grateful for everyone who donated. Every donation takes St. Jude one step closer to defeating childhood cancer.”
