Sorrento man surrenders after June murder


The Ascension Parish Sheriff’s office said a 21-year-old man surrendered Tuesday in connection with a June murder.

Detectives said Bobby Smith Jr. of Sorrento was wanted on charges of second-degree murder.

Ascension Parish Sheriff’s Detectives began investigating the murder of Kenneth Brown. Brown was killed on June 8 at a home on North Robert Wilson Road in Gonzales.

Through the course of investigation, Smith was identified as a person of interest and an arrest warrant was issued for him on Monday.

Smith was booked into the Ascension Parish Jail where no bond has been set yet.
