Southern Lab to host 5th Annual Generations of Excellence Gala


The Southern University Laboratory School will hold its 5th Annual Generations of Excellence Fundraising Gala to honor the school’s history, community spirit and partnerships on Saturday, Jan. 25 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.

The event, which will take place at Southern University’s Valdry Center for Philanthropy, will include an awards ceremony, dinner, silent auction and live entertainment, according to the school’s director of development and recruitment, Morgan Hillard.

Students, teachers, alumni and community partners who have achieved academic success, made in-kind donations, volunteered or provided financial commitments will be honored as “superheroes” at the event.

Students who will be recognized are fifth-grader Hannah Lagarde, eighth-grader Cydney Williams and 12th-grader Da’elon Hardy.

Alumni and community partners who will be recognized are Jason Gardner, Carolyn W. Fields, Hedi Butler and Jon and Naomi Bennett.

General admission tickets cost $65 for individuals and $120 for couples, and proceeds will go toward the Southern University Laboratory Annual Fund.
