BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) — Homecoming is all about returning back to your university and celebrating. This year Southern University and LSU will celebrate homecoming on the same day.

Homecoming is in the air. Both Southern University and LSU are celebrating homecoming this weekend. Fans say they are ready. “Go Tigerssssss,” chanted LSU students. To follow up, “As always, Go Jags,” chanted alumni from Southern University.

But before you head to Mumford Stadium — Southern University SGA President Carlos Brister says his best advice to you is to get there early. “Be safe! But also just remember those regular game day on-road closures, the things that are the typical practices we do for game days remember those but also remember that the homecoming parade will be starting at 8:00 a.m., so it will be more road closures than normal in Scotlandville area,” he continued.

There is a map of the roads that will be closed. The only way on campus will be Harding Boulevard. Those across town celebrating at Death Valley, Program Assistant for Campus Life, Gabby Troxclair says they are keeping usual home games procedures. S. Stadium Road, Dalrymple Drive, and Fieldhouse Drive near Tiger Stadium will be blocked off but, “There will be like a line of the court walking down Victory Hill and that will start lining up around noon. So I would get there around that time,” she explained.

Both Universities suggest downloading their app to make your experience as smooth and as fun as possible. You can find the Southern University’s app, “JagSAFE” and the Louisiana State University app, “LSU Sports” in your app store.
