LIVINGSTON PARISH, La. (BRPROUD) – According to firefighters in Livingston Parish, two people had to be rescued from a malfunctioning elevator in an incident that left both victims with injuries.

The rescue was made Sunday (August 21) evening, around 4:30 p.m. on Shelton Drive in Springfield.

Firefighters say both of the wounded people were taken to a medical facility for treatment.

At this time, the extent of their injuries is unknown as is the exact cause of the elevator malfunction.

Local officials are also urging any businesses or homeowners with elevators to have rigging inspected and ensure that elevators are functioning properly.
