St. George Fire investigating late night apartment fire

BATON ROUGE, La. (BRProud) – St. George Fire is investigating a late night apartment fire at 5603 McBeth Rd in the Shenandoah area of Baton Rouge.

Firefighters were called to the apartment fire a little before 10:15 p.m. and upon arrival, saw fire emanating from the second floor of a two-story fourplex.

Firefighters were able to contain the fire in short order.

The fire was put out around 25 minutes after the call was received the St. George Fire Department.

Utilities were turned off to the building because of the damage from the blaze.

SGFD says, “the apartments on the second floor received fire damage and the bottom floor apartments suffered significant smoke and water damage.”

In total, 15 were displaced because of this fire and the Red Cross was summoned to provide assistance to the victims of the fire.

No one was hurt in this fire and the investigation into what started this fire is ongoing.
