St. Martin Parish deputies arrest California man for allegedly possessing more than 20 pounds of meth

BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) — Deputies with the St. Martin Parish Sheriff’s Office on Wednesday arrested a California man who allegedly possessed 13 bags of methamphetamine, which together weighed more than 20 pounds and carried a street value totaling hundreds of thousands of dollars.

Jorge Medrano Del Toro, 19, of Sacramento, faces charges of criminal conspiracy and possession of Schedule II drugs with intent to distribute.

He is in the St. Martin Parish Correctional Center and has a $1.5 million bond.

The arrest resulted from an investigation of a residence in the 200 block of Avon Drive in Breaux Bridge. Deputies initiated a search there after receiving reports of suspected illegal drug activity, according to the sheriff’s office.
