ST. MARTINVILLE, La. (BrProud) — St. Martin Parish Sheriff’s Office (SMPSO) has arrested a St. Martinville man on distribution of LSD charges.

On July 26, 2020, Steven Lee Touchet, 29, was arrested and booked into the St. Martin Parish Correctional Center on the charges of:

LA. R.S. 40:983-Creation or Operation of a Clandestine Laboratory

LA. R.S. 40:966A (1)-Manufacture/Distribution Schedule I CDS (LSD)

LA. R.S. 32:104-Turning Movements and Required Signals

LA. R.S. 32:861-Insurance Required

According to St. Martin Parish Sheriff’s Office, on July 26 deputies were conducting proactive narcotics enforcement during a traffic stop in the 6400 block of Resweber Hwy., after observing multiple traffic violations by the driver.

Upon initial investigation learned the driver, Touchet, did not have insurance on the vehicle. After a consented search recovered blotter paper with images of cartoon characters, along with a vial containing suspected liquid LSD and other drug related material. According to SMPSO, papers are utilized to infuse LSD onto each perforated square totaling 225 dosages per sheet. Deputies recovered approximately 675 potential “hits” of LSD or acid.

“Sheriff Becket Breaux would like to inform the public of this type of targeted distribution to the youth of our Parish by the utilization of images of popular cartoon characters,” said SMPSO in a press release. “This seemingly harmless ‘paper’ could be a potentially deadly situation if accidentally accessed by a child.”

Individuals with information regarding drugs in St. Martin Parish can call the Narcotics Tip Line at calling (337) 394-2626.
