BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) – As Hurricane Ida cleanup continues, East Baton Rouge Parish Schools have made a decision about reopening schools.
Staff in the East Baton Rouge Parish School System are coming back on Tuesday and students are expected to return on Wednesday.
The East Baton Rouge Parish School System released details about this decision below:
After an extensive assessment of EBRPSS school facilities and round-the-clock work from our facilities and technology teams, EBRPSS will be able to welcome back staff on Tuesday, September 7, 2021, and students on Wednesday, September 8, 2021. As our school sites come back online, we have decided to give staff the time they need on Tuesday, September 7, to prepare and reset their spaces to welcome students again to the classroom after this trying time and troubleshoot any issues they may encounter.
When school resumes, students attending school in-person will continue to receive breakfast and lunch at school. Families can still sign-up for home meal delivery by texting FOOD to 225-217-8009. Parents can register for DSNAP benefits here.
Mandatory Covid-19 testing for all staff and optional testing for students will also resume on Tuesday, September 7, 2021.
