STAR responds to Stanford rape case verdict

Right now, more than one million people have signed a petition to oust the judge who sentenced a Stanford University swimmer for rape. Many sexual assault advocates are outraged at the sentencing saying it is too lenient.
Friday, Local 33 and Fox 44 caught up with the Sexual Trauma Awareness and Response Center, right here at home, to see what advocates there had to say about it.
“So the positive about that, is that people get it, and that what he did was not okay. So it makes us happy that people are making a concerted effort to make a difference with this situation, and I think right now there is over a million signatures, so that means that there’s a million people who get that sexual assault is not okay,” said Sonia Daniels, the Capital Area Regional Director of STAR.
