State Police investigate after Houma officers shot at while examining storm damage

HOUMA, La. (WDSU) –

The Louisiana State Police are investigating after two Houma police officers were shot at while assessing storm damage from Tropical Storm Barry.

On Sunday the LSP responded to an officer-involved shooting in Houma.

The officers were on West Street conducting a storm damage assessment when gunshots were fired in the vicinity of the officers.

The source of the gunfire was unknown, according to state police.

State Police say during the incident, one of the officers discharged their duty weapon. The officers were uninjured.

The details surrounding this incident are still under investigation, and there is no further information or suspects at this time.
