LAFOURCHE PARISH, La. (BRPROUD) – Early Sunday morning, a crash involving two vehicles on LA Hwy 308 in Lafourche Parish resulted in the loss of three lives, authorities say.

The deceased have been identified by Louisiana State Police (LSP) as 47-year-old Grant Gremillion of Sulphur, 44-year-old Ramiro Pineda-Perez of Berwick, and 38-year-old Alexander Vigil of Morgan City.

According to LSP, it was shortly before 5 a.m. when Gremillion, who was behind the wheel of a Ford F-250 was headed north on LA Hwy 308 and Pineda-Perez was in a Chrysler going south on the same road.

For reasons that police are still looking into, Gremillion’s Ford crossed the centerline and went into oncoming traffic. Authorities say Pineda-Perez tried to avoid a collision by steering right but was still hit by the pickup.

Both drivers were killed as was Vigil, who was Pineda-Perez’s passenger.

The tragic crash remains under investigation.
