BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) – Emergency responders were called to a crash involving a school bus on Tuesday morning.

One student was hurt and taken to a local hospital with minor injuries.

There were two school buses present when this happened and students on those buses were not hurt in this crash.

Students from Sherwood Middle School were on an EBRPSS bus that had come to a stop.

The EBRPSS bus “was stopped adjacent to a First Student bus at the intersection of Old Hammond Hwy and Stonegate Dr,” according to the East Baton Rouge Parish School System.

EBRPSS said that “as the First Student driver hand-signaled for the EBRPSS driver to go ahead and turn left, having the right away, the bus began to pull into the intersection when a child waiting for the First Student bus ran into the roadway and was struck by the EBRPSS bus.”

The drivers were not charged in connection with this crash.
