BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) – Capital area residents interested in obtaining fresh food, innovative apparel, and perhaps even a bag of FREE food at an upcoming community event may want to mark October 19th on their calendars.

According to the Southern University Ag Center, the public is invited to a Campus Market Wednesday, October 19 at the Lee-Hines Baseball Stadium from 9 a.m. until 12 noon.

Some guests will receive a free Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) bag containing ground beef, greens, eggs, and tomatoes. But anyone interested in these bags should try to arrive early as they’ll be distributed on a first-come, first-served basis.

Along with the free bags, guests will be able to purchase customized products created by individuals with the College of Family & Consumer Science Nutrition Club and the Apparel Merchandise Textile Club.

Southern University says the event, which is sponsored by the Wilson foundation, was created to give back to the community.
