Sugar Bowl honors reporter who died in plane crash with press box seat

The Louisiana sports reporter who died in a small plane crash on the way to the LSU vs. Oklahoma game Saturday was honored by the Sugar Bowl Wednesday with a press box seat.

Flowers were placed on the spot designated to honor 30-year-old Carley McCord.

McCord and four other passengers died in the Lafayette crash just hours before the Peach Bowl.

McCord is the daughter-in-law of LSU Offensive Coordinator Steve Ensminger.

Memorial services for McCord will be held on Jan. 4 at 1 p.m. at St. Jean Vianney Catholic Church located at 16166 S. Harrells Ferry Road in Baton Rouge, and visitation will be from 9 a.m. until 1 p.m. Saturday.

An interment will follow the funeral services at St. George Catholic Churuch located at 7808 Saint George Drive in Baton Rouge.
