It’s long been said there are two kinds of people…those who watch the Super Bowl for the game and those who watch for the commercials, like Erin Aspegren, who told us “I do love the commercials.”
Wal-Mart released its first ever Super Bowl commercial just days before this year’s big game. And it’s just one of many “leaked” commercials out there on the internet, just a click or tap away.
Once again, there’s star power galore in these “leaked” ads that this year includes Bryan Cranston in a lighter version of a horror classic film and Sam Elliot in Doritos’ short version of a western, just to name a few.
“First of all, we use the term leaked,” says Baton Rouge Artworx Inc’s Andre’ Chapoy. “It’s not leaked. It’s all part of, all of this is part of a strategic campaign.”
And why not? Advertisers are spending $5.6 million this year on a 30 second Super Bowl Commercial. Chapoy says getting these commercials out there where you can see them in advance lets advertisers get much more bang for their bucks, adding “Market research is showing that ads or brands that are using this “leak” as it were, are getting two times, if not more, brand awareness during the actual Super Bowl itself.”
