Superdome, Tiger Stadium illuminated to honor George Floyd



BATON ROUGE & NEW ORLEANS, La. (BRPROUD) – Two of the state’s most iconic buildings were lit up Monday night to honor George Floyd, the man who died in Minneapolis Police custody.

The Mercedez-Benz Superdome and LSU Tiger Stadium were illuminated in crimson red and gold, Floyd’s high school colors.

The picture of Death Valley was posted on the LSU Football Facebook page, with the post reading in part “Black. Lives. Matter.”

Mayor LaToya Cantrell requested the Superdome to be illuminated as part of a “call for racial equality”.

Floyd will be buried Tuesday in Houston, his hometown following a private funeral service.
