DONALDSONVILLE, La. (BRPROUD) – Schools are officially closed in Ascension Parish on Wednesday, May 25.

That means Tuesday is the last day of class for students in AP.

Superintendent David Alexander is marking the last day of class with this note:

Dear Ascension Public Schools Family,

Today is the last day of school for our students for the 2021-22 school year. We are so grateful and proud of the work our students accomplished. They once again endured many challenges and obstacles to stay focused and engaged, and that is a testament to their resilience and the family support that surrounded them. We believe that the 2021-22 school year was a successful and productive one, and we are confident that our students gave it their all as they laid the foundation for a future of their choice in the years to come.

We are also so grateful for the many classroom teachers that served our students daily. These hard-working, dedicated professionals work tirelessly to prepare lessons, provide feedback, mediate learning, and appropriately challenge and support students to embrace a productive struggle that ultimately results in students in successful student outcomes. Our teachers are second to none! A sincere thank you for their relentless and consistent commitment to student success.

In addition, we are grateful for all the support that rallies around the work of our teachers. Instructional leaders, building leaders, district leaders, administrative services, health care services, and our operational services ensure that teaching and learning are protected and enhanced each and every day. A tremendous amount of teamwork takes place so that students have productive and efficient experiences at every touchpoint.

As the regular school year ends and we transition to summer programs, we want to make you aware of:

REPORT CARDS: Final report cards will be mailed on May 25, 2022. You should receive your child’s report card no later than May 31, 2022. If you do not receive your child’s report card by that time, please contact your child’s school.

High schools will focus on credit recovery, LEAP remediation, 9th-grade transition to the Freshman Academy, credit accrual, and career path classes.

We hope everyone has a great summer! We will be looking forward to starting the 2022-23 school year as planned and will enjoy hearing about the great stories and experiences that took place during the summer months. Keep reading, keep learning, and have some fun; but get some rest too!
