Suspect arrested in connection with deadly shooting at local hotel

DONALDSONVILLE, La. (BRPROUD) – 33-year-old Marty Leonard is in the Ascension Parish Jail facing multiple charges stemming from a recent deadly shooting at the OYO Town House.

Deputies with the Ascension Parish Sheriff`s Office were called to the scene of a reported shooting after 2 a.m. on Thursday, July 8.

APSO says, “Qwonkeious Williams, was found lying in the hallway of the hotel and had suffered a fatal gunshot wound.”

The ensuing investigation uncovered information that authorities believe connects Leonard to the deadly shooting.

According to the Ascension Parish Sheriff’s Office, “The investigation revealed that the shooting stemmed from an incident that occurred during the late evening hours of July 7, 2021 at the same location.

Leonard was subsequently arrested and is facing these charges:

  • One count of Second Degree Murder
  • One count of Aggravated Damage to Property
  • One count of Illegal Use of a Weapon
  • Possession of Marijuana less than 14 grams

Leonard’s bond is set at $285,000.

The OYO Town House is located at 2179 Hwy 70.
