Suspect arrested in connection with early morning arson fire

BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) – The Baton Rouge Fire Department was called to a vehicle fire early Saturday morning.

Firefighters arrived at 5445 Longfellow Dr. around 2:15 a.m. and “found the vehicle fully engulfed in flames and the fire had begun to compromise a nearby apartment building,” according to the Baton Rouge Fire Department.

The fire was put out in around ten minutes with the help of four total units, two pumpers and one ladder.

Fire investigators concluded that the cause of the fire was arson.

A suspect was arrested on the same day that the arson fire took place.

26-year-old Jordan Christophe was charged with one count of Aggravated Arson.

Christophe’s bond is set at $25,000.

The fire caused $17,000 in damages.

Despite there being 8 people living or working in the building at the time of the fire, there were no reported injuries due to this fire.

Entergy and EMS assisted the Baton Rouge Fire Department at the scene.
