Suspect in custody in connection with shooting death of local woman

BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) – 40-year-old Brenda Mullens was shot and killed on Wednesday, September 17.

A search for a suspect ensued and almost a month later, 24-year-old Davyon Bentley, of 4009 North 38th St. was apprehended in Denver, Colorado.

Bentley was arrested by the U.S. Marshal Task Force on Monday, October 12, according to the Baton Rouge Police Department.

When Bentley arrives in Baton Rouge, the 24-year-old is going to face these charges:

  • Home Invasion
  • Illegal Use of a Weapon
  • Felon in Possession of a Firearm
  • (2) Counts Simple Criminal Damage to Property
  • 1st Degree Murder
  • Attempt 1st Degree Murder
  • Possession of Firearm by Convicted Felon
