BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) — The Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff’s Office has arrested five people and is searching for a sixth suspect following an investigation involving stolen firearms and illegal drugs.

The investigation began Thursday, June 24 when TPSO began looking into a burglary on Morris Road in Hammond. TPSO identified a suspect and a location where stolen goods were suspected to be housed.

TPSO and the Hammond Police Department obtained a search warrant for the residence on Monday and detained several people there. Detectives reportedly seized firearms, ammunition and a large amount of illegal narcotics, according to a TPSO press release.

That search led to a second search at a residence on Muscarello Lane, where detectives found several small quantities of illegal drugs, according to TPSO.

TPSO arrested these people on the following charges:

Timothy Berry, 39, of Hammond

  • 2 counts of marijuana possession
  • Possession of Schedule I narcotics — heroin
  • Possession of Schedule II narcotics
  • Possession of Schedule III narcotics
  • Possession with the intent to distribute Schedule I narcotics — heroin
  • Possession with the intent to distribute Schedule I narcotics — marijuana
  • 12 counts of being a convicted felon in possession of a firearm
  • 4 counts of possession of a weapon while in the possession of a dangerous controlled substance
  • 5 counts of a stolen firearm

Renata Berry, 40, of Hammond
