Tara Wicker disqualified for East Baton Rouge mayor-president race

BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD)- The 1st Circuit Court of Appeals disqualified Tara Wicker from the race for East Baton Rouge mayor-president in a decision released August 13.

The entire decision can be found here.

1st Circuit Court of Appeals says the decision was made after there was insufficient evidence showing that Wicker had paid two years of state income tax returns prior to qualifying for November’s election, as required by state law.

The ruling reverses the decision by Judge Timothy Kelly, of the 19th Judicial District Court, who said last week that Wicker could remain in the race, according to 1st Circuit Court of Appeals.

Wicker will hold a news conference today around 3:30 p.m to discuss the courts ruling.
