The Habitat for Humanity of Greater Baton Rouge announced Monday a generous donation of $100,000 from pop star Taylor Swift that will provide needed support to HFHGBR’s flood relief efforts.
“We are blown away by Taylor Swift’s generosity,” said Lynn Clark, executive director of HFHGBR. “The overwhelming need in South Louisiana right now makes her support so important. Thanks to her help and the support of so many people across the country, we will rebuild our community.”
HFHGBR said the group is working to meet one of the most urgent needs during this time, which is quickly removing sheetrock, insulation and flooring from the affected homes.
HFHGBR said teams of volunteers are gutting homes every day, and they are processing the over 1,000 applications for assistance we have received since the floods.
Funds donated to HFHGBR flood relief efforts will go toward purchasing materials necessary to gut and clean flood affected homes, as well as toward our rebuilding efforts in the Greater Baton Rouge area.
HFHGBR said they have set a goal of rebuilding 100 homes in 2017.
