Seymour is a teacher and dance coach at Lockhart High School. According to the report police are investigating, the relationship occurred at the high school.

Lockhart ISD announced Seymour has been suspended Tuesday.

Seymour admitted to investigators that she and the student had been having a relationship that began last summer and she said it involved kissing.

Police say at this time there is no indication any other students were involved.

On September 10, Lockhart ISD sent out a release saying that they had suspended Seymour for having an improper relationship with a student. The district said Seymour had worked for them since March of 2016. Lockhart ISD says it is notifying the State Board for Educator Certification of the conduct.

The district emailed parents Tuesday afternoon to let them know of the arrest, saying she will not return to the district.

“The trust between a teacher and student is sacred, and we do not and will not tolerate any violation of that trust,” said Superintendent of School Mark Estrada in a letter to parents Tuesday. “The safety of our students is our number one priority, and we will continue to cooperate fully with law enforcement during this ongoing investigation.”

He also asked parents to encourage their children to always say something to an adult if they hear or see anything that is concerning “so we can work together to make sure students
are safe.”

Additionally, Estrada asked that any LHS parents with additional
information about this case to contact Lockhart Police Detective David Martinez at 512-398-4401.

On Sept. 9 Lockhart ISD released a letter that Seymour at Lockhart High School was placed on administrative leave after the school district received a complaint against her.

The letter stated that Lockhart police and Child Protective Services has been notified but the details of the complaint would not be made available while they investigate.
