The number of passengers at Baton Rouge Metro Airport flying high

The Baton Rouge Metro Airport is flying high with the number of passengers catching flights.

Airport leaders said Friday passenger volume was up 5.4 percent in June, and up half a percentage point for the first half of the year. A 2% increase is forecast for the full year. Passenger numbers were up 8% for 2017 and 2018 combined.

Total BTR passenger volume for June was 71,751 with American capturing the highest market share at 38%, followed by Delta at 35%, and United at 27%. In the first six months of 2019, BTR has handled 395,912 passengers. The top five origin and destination (O&D) markets for BTR passengers were Dallas/Ft. Worth, Atlanta, Houston, Charlotte and Washington DC.
