Thibodaux police arrested a juvenile on Saturday, Feb. 22 for allegedly committing an armed robbery with a knife and a gun at a business in the 500 block of St. Mary Street.

The juvenile allegedly entered the store and asked the clerk, whom he knew personally, for money. When the clerk refused, the juvenile reportedly brandished a knife and a gun from his waistband, according to Thibodaux Police Department Public Information Officer Lt. Clint Dempster.

The juvenile allegedly fled the store with stolen items and entered a vehicle with his mother, but Thibodaux police later determined the juvenile’s mother was unaware of the robbery.

Police apprehended the juvenile after his mother dropped him off at a relative’s home and transported him to the Lafourche Parish Juvenile Justice Complex, Dempster wrote.
