BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) – With the recent news that Louisiana is moving to phase three, live music is coming back, something many people have been anticipating for nearly a full year.
“I know everyone is ready for some music and some fun,” Third St. Songwriters Festival organizer Kay Solar said.
“March 20th, Saturday, we’ve moved everything into one day. Outdoor space, changing things up, will be at the beautiful Pointe Marie because they have a great green space. Starting at noon, free to the public, and we’ll have songwriter circles spaced in different areas. We’re adding an arts market. A lot of folks, not just musicians but artists have been creating a lot because they’ve been inside and they haven’t had anywhere to display their goods. Give them that format and we have some food trucks and specialty events. We have a Cochon de Lait dinner that’s going to be catered by City Pork with drink pairings and select songwriters. At 7pm, our big songwriters showcase on the pavilion outside, bring your family and throw down the blankets. That part is going to be a ticketed event with CJ Solar, Rick Huckaby and Blake Griffith, all Louisiana boys who have big hits by famous artists.”
It’s so hard to believe it’s been a full year since we had festivals in Louisiana. The push to do something but keep it safe, what led to that decision to give the viewers something they can be excited about?
“Absolutely, we’re just going to make some changes so we can still be compliant. But have something and get it done, and let people get out and enjoy the music.”
“Where can viewers go to find additional information and to get those tickets?”
“The festival website which is thirdstreetsongwritersfestival.com, and you can also follow us on our facebook page at third street songwriters festival, so you can get the latest updates.”
