BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD)- Most would agree that we all need the occasional escape, an opportunity to leave the every day humdrum and engage in an activity that stimulates the imagination.

Even children need a break from the monotony, and this can be accomplished by introducing them to the exciting world of the arts.

The Recreation and Park Commission for the Parish of East Baton Rouge (BREC) says it will do exactly this by means of an art series that will begin this fall.

Twice a month on Wednesdays, the Baringer Art Center will host dance classes, music classes, visual art classes, artsy games, and art films for children between the ages of eight and 12.

The classes will vary from week to week and be held on a first-come, first-served basis.

Registration for each of these mid-week artsy events will open from 3:30- 4 p.m. on the day of the class.

The series will run from September 7 through November 30.
