Thousands gather for Baton Rouge’s annual festival of lights

This holiday season, the capital city was a little brighter. Friday evening, the lights on the city’s Christmas tree were turned on.

“It’s beautiful, it’s really nice and bright”

The Williams family said, this time of year is the best because it brings the community together.

“We love the family fun, the festivities, the holidays are my favorite time of the year and we love the things the city does to put on a good show for us” said Tonya Williams.

Throughout the evening, people got the chance to enjoy music, food and even snow.

“We took the kids to ice skating and sledding which was really fun. They’re not totally use to doing like snow stuff and I am, so it was fun to kind of give them a taste of that” said Claire Huston.

One of the many things lighting up kids’ face, the jolly ol’ man.

“Santa Claus is coming. I love to see him every year.”

While fireworks illuminate the sky and a band serenade the crowd.
The Williams family said, this event truly showcases the most wonderful time of the year.

“Happy Holidays”
