Rain continues with a Flash Flood Watch extended through Friday

News

Today: Rain chances remain in the forecast as Nicholas begins to dissipate. However, the weakness it leaves in the atmosphere will still kick up showers and storms for us on today, though more scattered in nature. It will feel more like typical summer showers than tropical rain. The problem is, the ground is already super saturated. Any more rain could lead to flooding issues. A FLASH FLOOD WATCH is extended through Friday night. Rain coverage should be about 60% today. Highs will be around 84 degrees.

Friday-Sunday: We will still see daily rain chances. It won’t be a washout but passing showers and thunderstorms are almost a guarantee each day so if you have any plans outside such as tailgating, plan for it to be wet at times. Highs will be in the mid-to-low 80s.

Monday-Wednesday: No significant changes next week. Scattered showers and storms are possible with highs in the mid-80s as the weakness in the atmosphere formerly known as Nicholas will still be hanging around.

Tracking the Tropics: Another system in the tropics is worth watching. A tropical wave off the west African coast is quickly becoming organized and is likely to develop into a tropical depression or tropical storm as it tracks westward across the open Atlantic and towards the Caribbean or open Atlantic.

No other tropical systems are of concern for Baton Rouge although there is a system the East coast is watching for development.
