The St. George Fire Department provided this update about the gas leak on Tiger Bend Rd.:
“The gas leak on Tiger Bend Rd has been stopped. Tiger Bend Rd has re-opened for traffic. The leak was the result of a heavy excavator striking the buried line.
The incident resulted in no injuries and no evacuation needed. Air quality was continually monitored to confirm that no threat to the public existed.”

A gas line leak has shut down Tiger Bend Rd in both directions.
The St. George Fire Department arrived at Tiger Bend Rd. near Babin Rd. around 12:30 p.m on Wednesday, October 16 and found “a 4” high pressure line leaking.”
According to the St. George Fire Department , “a gas company representative is on scene.”
If you are traveling in the area, you are encouraged to seek an alternate route.
The St. George Fire Department said, “BR HazMat has been called to assist St George HazMat unit on scene.”
No evacuation notices have been issued and fire officials will let the public know when the road is safe to use again.
